Set up an international payment

These instructions will guide you to set up a cross-boarder (international) payment in Jyske Online Banking Business.

Getting started

  1. Log in to Jyske Online Banking Business (see guide).
  2. Select "Payments" followed by "International payment" in the menu.
  3. The fields required for an international payment will feature gradually, as you enter the payment details. Now enter the amount, currency, from account and recipient account.
  4. Click “Next”. We will then check the details that you have entered, in order to assess which other details we may need.

Example of a typical transfer

In this example, an amount is transferred to an account registered in Germany with a known IBAN number. This means the transfer will be set up as a SEPA payment.

  1. Enter the amount, currency, from account and recipient account (IBAN number).
  2. Then click “Next”.
  3. The IBAN number tells us with which bank the recipient account is registered. The recipient banking details will automatically feature under the IBAN number. You will now also see the fields for any additional information that must be entered (recipient's name, payment date, message to recipient and a receipt reference, if any). Fill these in.
  4. Complete the payment order by clicking ”Transfer”.
  5. Approve the payment (see the section on approval below).

Additional Options

  • You can choose to make the payment an express payment.
  • In the bottom-left corner, you can see which payment type we have assessed the international payment to be and the estimated price for this type of transfer.
  • If you would like to save the recipient details, tick off the box "Save recipient". When you save a recipient, after clicking on "Transfer", you will see a display requesting you to confirm which details you want to save. You can add or remove details, before you click "Save recipient".
  • If you need to state any further details, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the payment display in order to select or deselect any fields:
    • The field "Equivalent value” allows you to make a calculation, so that a transfer made in a certain currency corresponds to a specific amount in another currency. Below the currency amount, you can typically see what the approximate equivalent amount is in the from account’s currency (usually DKK). Please note that this is merely an indicative conversion, as the final currency rate is not known until the payment is recorded.
    • The field called "Special requests for handling" at the bottom of the payment display provides you with three text lines, on which you can state any requests you might have regarding the Bank’s processing of your payment. This may be e.g. stating a specific intermediary bank: If you need to make a funds transfer to a payment institution which cannot receive international transfers, requiring that you use a different bank as an intermediary, it is essential that the account number stated in "Recipient’s account number” is that of the recipient’s own account registered with this payment institution and that the details for the payment institution are stated as ’Recepient’s bank’. The payment institution’s account number with the "intermediary bank” must be stated in the field "Handling", along with the intermediary bank’s BIC/SWIFT address.
  • Tick off "Approve later" if you want to set up more payments before approving all payments.

Additional information you may need

If the recipient’s account number is not an IBAN number, we will need details on the recipient bank’s BIC/SWIFT or name and address.

  • If you have been given a BIC/SWIFT address, you can enter the 8 or 11 characters in the field to the left and click "Next". Below the field BIC/SWIFT address, we now state which bank is connected with the bank BIC/SWIFT address entered.
  • If you do not know the BIC/SWIFT address, click the link to the right instead: "I do not know the BIC of the recipient's bank and would like to enter the address myself.” Now select the country of the recipient's bank.

Bank codes

For payments to the US, you must state the recipient’s bank’s Fedwire Routing Number. This is often specified as ’FW’ or ’ABA’ on your invoice.

NOTE: If both a BIC/SWIFT address and a Routing Number for the recipient’s bank are stated, only the BIC/SWIFT address is required.

There may be other bank codes for other countries, and some countries require specific information.

Chinese addresses

Chinese recipients often have lengthy names, and Chinese banks are very meticulous about using people’s full names (without any spelling mistakes).

How to approve payments

Before completing a payment order, above the button "Transfer" you have the option to tick off the field called "Approve later".

If the field is ticked off, your payment will be saved once you click "Transfer", and you will see an empty payment form allowing you to set up another payment, until you approve all payments in the end. Once you are ready to approve the payments, click “Approve payments” at the top-right corner of the payment display. You will now see an overview of the payments awaiting approval, and you can check that all details are correct before approving all payments.

If this field is unticked, you will be asked to approve the payment immediately after you have clicked "Transfer" (and potentially saved the recipient).
