Re-categorisationRetail customersYou may apply for a re-categorisation from retail customer to professional customer within a specific instrument category (read more under the item ”instrument categories”). To apply for a re-categorisation, you must at least fulfil two of the following three criteria:
If you wish to apply for a re-categorisation to professional customer within a specific instrument category, please contact your adviser. Subsequently, Jyske Bank will assess whether you may be re-categorised. In case of a re-categorisation your investor protection level will fall Retail customers are customers who are categorised as neither eligible counterparties nor professional customers. Retail customers are entitled to the highest level of investor protection. Professional customers are basically large companies which are assumed to possess the necessary experience, knowledge and expertise to make their own investment decisions and make a correct evaluation of the risks involved. Therefore, the level of investor protection is more moderate for professional customers than for retail customers. Eligible counterparties are other banks and institutional investors. Eligible counterparties enjoy no investor protection. Professional customersYou may apply for a re-categorisation from professional customer to eligible counterparty or retail customer. If you wish to apply for a re-categorisation, please contact your adviser. Under current legislation, Jyske Bank is required to categorise its investment customers as retail customers, professional customers and eligible counterparties. The customer category determines the level of investor protection Jyske Bank is obliged to offer in the form of investment services and information.
